A non-technical point of view: Tablet’s Operating Systems
Hearing various rumors on the net there are 2 kind of operating systems for tablets the mobile version of an OS (Android, iOS, playbook OS) that are the smartphone versione adapted for the tablet use. In Android the life of tablet producer is more simple and more complicated Android is highly cutomizable and open but the more you treat Android like an open OS and the more your product will satisfy a hollow market.
iOS for iPad has the same name of the iPhone OS but is bit different but the philosophy is the same of Google in Apple, in fact here we have the smartphone version adapted for a slate.RIM with BlackBerry has playbook OS that is the same thing of the last two cases.
And after there is Microsoft, with Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8: the first one designed for PC- Desktop Laptop, Netbook, Notebook and Tablet, yes you have heard well, and the second one that is designed only for Phones.
So is more productive the line that have Google, Apple and RIM or the Microsoft one? The time and use experience will say it to us! But I want to do some consideration.
The semplification that has done Apple in the use of a Tablet and a Phone is admirable, but a lot of people don’t like it, and the closure of the platform don’t help. But an iPad is the more usable tablet in the market, The other consideration is: the Tablet market want to replace a piece of the PC market and so, the line that is follow Microsoft could be right because, we have known earlier the PC and after smartphones so is more easier know something similar to a pc that similar a smartphone that is entered in our houses maximum 4-5 years ago.
But in the other side we’ve got the simple use of a smartphone re-adapted on a tablet as workhorse.
In the end will be similar tablets are in the middle between PCs and smartphones so the choice are two adapt the Desktop OS or adapt the Phone OS because a tablet is similar to a Phone for many aspects but is similar to a desktop for many others!
We will see
